Practical – The Job:

In order to create this scene, we had to film it multiple times to get different shots so that when we edited it together, we had lots to choose from. Also, you film it more than once so that when choosing the one you want in the video, you have a couple to look at and you can choose the best one. When creating a film / video, you want to change the shots and not just film from one point as it is boring from the audiences perspective. However, you do not want to film from too many different angles as it will cause confusion for the audience. Also, when filming you can never cross the 180 degree line with the characters, as it will make them seem as if they have moved sides; confusing the audience again. Once we had filmed it, we imported the clips onto Premiere.

Firstly, I chose the clip that I wanted one by one; ensuring I chose the one which had the best acting in it. I had to edit the clip because I needed to crop the beginning of it to when they started acting, then had to crop the clip to where I wanted it to follow through onto the next clip. For example, I would have two clips which include the same narrative but are different shot types. Then I would use the first one till when I think it is necessary to go into the other one. This makes the scene seem more interesting as the audience are seeing it from different perspectives.

Secondly, I had to crop the audio of all the videos at different points so that it flowed well and the dialogue matched up to the characters mouths. This meant that when they did the scene each time, they had to do it as similar as possible; including small details, such as where they put their hands when pulling the chair out.

Thirdly, I went onto soundsnap.com and downloaded relevant sounds to put into the video which would match the setting. The scene was meant to be in an office environment, therefore, I chose to get an ambient office noise to play throughout out it all to make it seem more realistic. Also, I downloaded sounds such as someone knocking on a door to overlay it on the one in the video. This is because the one in the video did not sound completely right as the door was too far away.

Once I had downloaded them to the computer I went back onto Premiere and added them into where they needed to be. Also, we then had to add a small piece of music in at a certain part of the video. I then went back onto soundsnap.com  and searched for a small instrumental piece, and again, downloaded it and placed it onto Premiere.

Finally, I watched through it all to ensure that all videos transitioned smoothly onto the next one and that it looked as professional as possible. If anything looked out of place I went back and cropped them or extended the video clip.

Step outline:

Ideal storyline

1)

Step 1

A video is posted of Holly and Ella from an anonymous Instagram account.

Step 2

Two days later, Holly posts a photo on Instagram leaving the location on, therefore anyone can see where she is. It is shown that she has left the location on before.

Step 3

Ella texts Holly urgently asking to meet as she has the video as their friend tagged them in it because she was concerned.

Step 4

Holly is not able to meet as she is not ready so asks Ella to meet later.

Step 5

Holly experiences a range of creepy situations due to the stalker. For example, the new device ‘Alexa’ has been hacked by the stalker: leaving weird and creepy messages and the phone rings, however, no one is there. This causes her to ring Ella.

Step 6

Ella comes over to Holly’s house and shows her the video. Holly explains that there has been creepy things happening before she arrived. They then see something in the corner of their eye outside so go out there to investigate.

Step 7

They walk outside and see a dead mouse on the floor. Both of their phones go off and they have been tagged in a photo of them outside – the photo has been taken from the inside of the house.

Step 8

Both of them go into the house to investigate. They hear a noise coming from the lounge so go to hide in the spare bedroom. They hear a car pull up and mum / dad call for Holly. Waking her up from a dream.

Option page ideas:

These are examples of existing option pages which are in interactive videos that appeal to me. I want our option page to look like a mixture of these ones because I think they all look visually attractive and quite professional, therefore, if ours is similar to these they will look engaging.

Screen Shot 2017-01-31 at 18.37.51.png

This interactive video is called Take The Knife. I like this option page because the boxes which the text are on are transparent so that you can still see the photo behind it, however, I do not think it is very eye-catching and exciting. This is because there are no bright colours in the image or on the design of the page, therefore, it may not be as appealing as some of the others. The text is very bold and stands out which is something that we would be looking to do for ours as it makes it look more professional. It suits this video well because the topic of this video is quite serious, therefore, this strong font goes with the theme of it.

This interactive video is called The Chase. This is my favourite option page out of the three videos. This is because I think that the blue goes well with the two option screens as they both include the colour blue in them so there is a colour theme. The font is also bold and in capital letters which I think looks good as it makes it stand out. This also has a screenshot of the video in the background which I think is a good idea. It gives the option more context as you can see where the character currently is in the story; allowing you to choose more carefully. However, this background has been made blurred, which could be so that you focus on the options more rather than just looking at the background. Also, this includes two smaller videos above the text within it because it gives the audience a sneak peek of where the video will go if you choose that option. Finally, I like the fact that it has a countdown because it makes choosing an option more tense because you would want to select the correct one.

Screen Shot 2017-01-31 at 18.38.35.png

This interactive video is called Haunted House Party. I like this option page because I think it is quite effective and very visual as the photo is a screenshot from the video, however, they have changed the background to a red filter and then the main character to black and white. This is because the options shown are to do with this character, therefore, they are showing this to the audience so that they have a clear understanding of who the option effects. I also like the colour and font style because it contrasts with the background image, therefore, stands out a lot more.

Overall, I think we will choose to do a design like the second one because we both like this one the most out of the three. However, I also like the last one because I think the colour red makes the text stand out which I think is visually appealing.

Font

screen-shot-2017-02-09-at-09-31-32

We think that we will use one of these fonts from dafont.com on our option pages in our interactive video. I like all three of these fonts because they are all bold which, in my opinion, makes it look more professional.

The first font is probably my least favourite of them all because I do not think it would suit the theme of our interactive video because I see it as being in the sci-fi genre, which is not what our film is. Also, I think that it is quite boring because it is very round, therefore, it is not eye-catching in my opinion.

I like the second one because of the space between the letters and that the letters are quite slim as it makes it seem as if it is a font from a video game. This would work well in our video because interactive videos are in some aspects a game / challenge.

Finally, with this font you get to decide how bold you want it to be. We both like the second one because we think after that, the font starts to look less professional and too big. This is quite a fun font, however, it is bold so looks serious too; fitting well with our interactive video.
